Curatorial Office Modern & Contemporary Art
Scope and Contents
Files concerning the operation of the Department of Nineteenth and Twentieth Century Art, primarily those of the adminstrative head of the Curatorial Department, Michael Shapiro. Includes files of four assistants. Records of this office deal with two study societies, with artists, internal administrative functions of the department, west wing reinstallation and opening, departmental travel, acquisitions, deaccession considerations, conservation priorities, budget and grant information.
After the resignation of Chief Curator Michael Shapiro, the area covered by this department was redefined as 'Modern Art' and 'Contemporary Art'.
